Easter Seals Disability Services

Hosted in the Yankee Stadium Legends Suite Club Tuesday on June 22nd, Easter Seals New York’s World of Hope Gala was one of the most memorable evenings of the year! More than 220 Ambassadors and supporters attended the highly successful event, which raised over $275, 000 for Easter Seals New York’s vital services and life-changing programs.  Please click here to see photos from this wonderful event.

The event honored those who exemplify hope through their invaluable dedication to the Easter Seals New York mission and who have significantly impacted the lives of individuals with disabilities or special needs. Easter Seals New York State Board Member, activist and charity campaigner Heather Mills received the organization’s highest honor, the Lilli and Allan Shedlin Award, for her uncompromising commitment to helping others, her advocacy and generosity. As an Easter Seals New York International Advocate for Children with Disabilities, Heather Mills has demonstrated her commitment to helping communities in need.

The organization and the We Live to Give Foundation also honored philanthropist Arvin Shah. President of Sky Bird Travel and Tours, Arvin Shah, has been instrumental to the Easter Seals New York and We Live to Give’s India Initiative, a program that will strive to enhance educational and medical programs for those living with disabilities or special needs in Indian communities. 

The evening also recognized Stephen Katzman, owner of S. Katzman Produce and Co-President of Hunts Point Terminal Produce Cooperative, and Mario Andreani, manager of S. Katzman Produce. Stephen Katzman’s and Mario Andreani’s altruism and humanitarianism has helped Easter Seals New York provide essential services to those with unmet needs throughout the state of New York.

The evening’s program included Board Member Aris Pavlides as the emcee. Deputy Bronx Borough President Aurelia Greene presented Stephen Katzman and Mario Andreani with their awards along with Board Member and previous award recipient, Stanley Schlein, as well as previous recipient Peter J. Powers. Chairman of the State Board, John L. Mascialino, gave the Chairman’s Address and National Chairman, Jerry Mattimore, gave the National Chairman’s Address. We Live to Give Board Member Shivaram Kumar presented Arvin Shah with the We Live to Give Award. Easter Seals New York Board Member and We Live to Give Co-Founder Kanti Gala presented Heather Mills with the Lilli and Allan Shedlin Award. Joe DiChiara, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors ended the evening with raffles and closing remarks.
