 Easter Seals New York Senior Community Service Employment Program

Easter Seals New York Senior Community Services Employment Program (SCSEP) provides on-the-job skills training to over 400 individuals, 55 years of age or older, who have an income under 125% of the Federal poverty level.

SCSEP pairs motivated individuals with paid internships at over 125 New York Non Profit organizations. Each individual is placed at a job with specific assignments that match their vocational goals.  Through internship assignments, ESNY SCSEP participants gain marketable skills and contribute to New York City’s resources. Since its inception, SCSEP has helped over one million older Americans enter the workforce

America is witnessing a dramatic growth in the number of citizens 55 or older, a trend that will rise throughout the 21st century. Older Americans will continue to play an increasingly important role in our economy and America’s leadership in the world marketplace. The Committee on Economic Development indicates that employers rate older workers high on characteristics such as judgment, commitment to quality, attendance, and punctuality.
