Easter Seals New York Walk With Me Hudson Valley 2008!

On the morning of Saturday, May 3, 2008, over 300 walkers gathered together at the Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla, NY to support Easter Seals New York's first annual Walk With Me in Hudson Valley.  Despite the inclement weather conditions, walkers joined in support of changing the lives of adults and children living with special needs; the smiles and cheers of our walk ambassadors also lifted the spirits of all in attendance.

With the support of local and corporate sponsors, we were able to make our first walk in this region a success. CVS Caremark, Quixtar/Amway, Century 21, Mass Mutual, and Friendly’s brought out droves of people. DJ Michelle Taylor, of 92.1 Lite FM, energized the crowd, while massage therapist John Morse, eased any pains felt by the participants.

After completing the walk, participants re-energized with hotdogs and hamburgers donated by So Dam Hot, fruit courtesy of Myra Gordon of the Hunts Point Terminal Market, and refreshments from Vitamin Water.

The event was truly a success, making a mark for our fist annual walk in Hudson Valley. Thank you to Walk With Me and Hudson Valley Regional Board Chairman James M. DiBenedetto for his leadership and guidance; all board members from the Hudson Valley region; Tom Westle for providing food and drinks for our volunteers; Josh and parents from So Dam Hot for their amazing hotdogs and hamburgers; DJ Michelle Taylor; our dedicated volunteers, including staff from the Valhalla and Monticello Child Development Centers, and everyone else who came to participate in making this first walk in the Hudson Valley region a fantastic event!
