Project Soar
Our preschool offers an educational program for preschoolers which includes special education services, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and counseling within an integrated educational environment for children with special needs as well as those without. Each classroom is taught by New York state-certified special education teachers, with experienced and certified teaching assistants that help in the implementation of the Creative Curriculum. We use a proactive approach to achieve positive behaviors which is focused on teaching and acknowledging positive behaviors to ensure that students are safe, kind and responsible.
Our Classrooms
Our classrooms are bright, colorful, full of language development and language stimulation, nurturing, and open to endless possibilities for student exploration and “hands-on” learning. We embrace the early childhood policies of Easterseals, that include providing an educationally stimulating classroom environment enriched with language stimulation and positive behavior management strategies.
Creative Curriculum
We currently offer 4 classrooms and an additional gym space. Our curriculum focuses on using the strengths of the students to build self- esteem and the important preschool skills of socialization, language development, academic readiness and motor development.
Who do we serve?
Project Soar serves Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties. We provide a full-day program each weekday from 8:30am to 2:00pm.
We follow the Carmel Central School District calendar. Children attending Project Soar receive a healthy snack in the morning as well as a snack before they go home. Parents provide a lunch for their child each day.
